New York — Community2Community (C2C) has been a member of the Haitian Women’s Collective (HWC) since its inception in 2017. The HWC exists to “bring together Haitian women led organizations based in Haiti. As a collective, we seek to write our own narrative and build on our expertise related to women’s empowerment, health, education, leadership and community development, economic development, business development and civic engagement.”
The Obama Foundation has selected The Haitian Women’s Collective as their partner for their Girl’s Opportunity Alliance (GOA) program.
“The Girls Opportunity Alliance, seeks to empower adolescent girls around the world through education, allowing them to achieve their full potential and transform their families, communities, and countries. The Alliance engages people around the world to take action to help adolescent girls and the grassroots leaders working to educate them.”
As a partner, the Girls Opportunity Alliance has launched a GoFundMe and started HWC off with a grant of $1,000 towards our goal of raising $50,000! Two members of HWC, Community2Community (C2C) and the Organization for Dondon Integral Development (ODID) will receive the funds to support their girls’ education programs.
The funds raised via the GoFundMe campaign will go to launching a two year program to support 20 adolescent girls (10 from C2C communities and 10 from ODID’s communities) to complete secondary school and provide them with sexual and reproductive health education, life skills training, leadership development and civic engagement opportunities.
